Draft & Publish

PT Suite uses a draft system so you can make changes safely without affecting your live website until you’re ready.

How It Works

Make Changes

Edit any section of your website. All changes are automatically saved as drafts.

Preview

Click Preview to see exactly how your changes will look when published.

Publish

When you’re happy, click Publish to make changes live on your website.

Understanding the Workflow

Draft Mode

When you edit content:

  • Changes are saved automatically
  • Your live website is NOT affected
  • You can edit over multiple sessions
  • Drafts persist until you publish or discard

Preview Mode

Preview lets you:

  • See changes before going live
  • Check how it looks on desktop and mobile
  • Catch errors before visitors see them
  • Get feedback from others (share the preview link)

Published State

When you publish:

  • Changes go live immediately
  • All visitors see the updated content
  • The draft becomes the live version
  • You can always make new drafts

The Editor Interface

Status Indicator

Look for the status badge on each section:

BadgeMeaning
PublishedLive on your website
DraftUnpublished changes pending

Action Buttons

  • Save - Save your current edits as a draft
  • Preview - View how changes will look
  • Publish - Make changes live
  • Discard - Throw away draft changes

Working with Drafts

Starting a New Draft

  1. Go to the section you want to edit
  2. Make your changes
  3. Changes are saved automatically as you type
  4. Or click Save to save manually

Continuing a Draft

Drafts are saved between sessions:

  1. Log back in
  2. Go to the section
  3. Your draft changes are still there
  4. Continue editing or publish

Discarding Changes

Changed your mind?

  1. Go to the section with draft changes
  2. Click Discard Draft or Revert
  3. Confirm you want to discard
  4. Content reverts to the published version

Careful: Discarding a draft permanently deletes those changes. This cannot be undone.

Previewing Changes

Desktop Preview

Click Preview to see changes in a new window:

  • Full-width view
  • Test all interactive elements
  • Check how sections flow together

Mobile Preview

Check your mobile appearance:

  • Use browser DevTools to simulate phone sizes
  • Or scan QR code to preview on actual phone
  • Check text is readable
  • Verify buttons are easy to tap

Sharing Previews

Need someone else to check?

  • Copy the preview link
  • Share with a friend or colleague
  • They can view without logging in
  • Preview links expire after 24 hours

Publishing Best Practices

Before Publishing

Checklist before you publish:

  • Preview on desktop
  • Preview on mobile
  • Check for spelling errors
  • Verify all links work
  • Check images display correctly
  • Read through the content one more time

Timing Your Publish

Consider when you publish:

  • Off-peak hours - Fewer visitors see any issues
  • After testing - Double-check everything first
  • Not before big promotions - Test thoroughly first

After Publishing

Once live:

  • Check your actual website
  • Click through main pages
  • Test on your phone
  • Monitor for any issues

Multiple Section Changes

Publishing All at Once

If you’ve changed multiple sections:

  1. Each section saves its own draft
  2. Preview shows all pending changes together
  3. You can publish individual sections, or
  4. Use Publish All to update everything

For major updates:

  1. Make all your changes across sections
  2. Preview the complete updated site
  3. Publish all sections together
  4. Verify everything on the live site
